How do we achieve our OBJECTIVES?

In our ways of working, several themes are common in our programming:

  • Strong networks and coordination: We do not work alone. We seek local partners and strengthen their skills where needed, linking them through supportive networks. We also collaborate closely with other players working in the same field or geographic areas.
  • Ownership, inclusion, and participation: At community level, the project approach is designed to bring households closer together in a context of deteriorating national cohesion and to enable them to build social connections for supporting each other inclusively. We believe in community-driven development, assisting local players to identify and address their own challenges.
  • Tested programme approaches based on experience and learning: We aim to learn from our experience and incorporate lessons from evidence gathering and research. For new areas of work, we pilot our approaches, assess the results, and progress step by step.
  • Robust accountability and feedback mechanisms: With experience working with many partners and donors, our team has built strong financial management, M&E, and reporting systems. At the same time, we practice downward accountability and seek feedback from those we serve.
  • Champions for ageing: AGE Myanmar is a champion in the country for the ageing agenda and older people. AGE Myanmar works together with like-minded and relevant stakeholders at all levels of engagement and highlights the situation of older people.
